Head's message

The temperature has been much more pleasant this week which has made it better for everyone.  I am keeping a check on the weather forecast for next week, as another heatwave is set to be on its way.  I will keep you informed of any changes to the school day should we need to make any adjustments.

We have a busy last 2 weeks coming up - please check the calendar on a regular basis.  We have also started to put dates in the calendar for next academic year.  These have been inputted for the Autumn term so far.  Mr Siviter (Telford Junior school Headteacher) and I have met to discuss dates to avoid clashes where possible.

INSET days for next year, directly match the Junior school and are listed below;

  • 1st September 2026
  • 4th January 2027
  • 19th/20th/21st July 2027

These are also in line with most local schools across Leamington.

Return of all school books

We are asking that all school books - Rhino readers and library books - that are at home, are returned back to school by the end of next week - Friday 10th July.  This is particularly important for Year 2 children who are leaving our school.  Please have a good look around at home and bring back any books that belong to school  - we will ask no questions if more than a few come back!

100 books challenge

If anyone else has managed to complete the 100 book challenge please let your child's class teacher know before the end of term.  Year 2 this is your last 2 weeks to try and do this!  Reception and year 1 you can carry on so don't worry -  the summer break is a perfect time to read a book or two.

Children's learning

During the last week of term your child will be sent home with their learning books (Topic, Maths, science etc) - please send your child into school with a strong carrier bag or cloth bag to enable this to happen.

External after school clubs

Our external after school offer for the Autumn term is now available to book.  Please note in consultation with the clubs we have agreed that children can no longer bring snacks to eat at the club.  This is because the children are taking a very long time to eat their snacks and around 15 minutes of the actual session is being lost due to this.  All clubs are finished by 4.30pm at the latest, and if you feel your child needs to eat something before their evening meal, you can bring a snack with you on pick up for them to eat on the way home.  The children can of course take a water bottle to their club activity. If you child has a medical condition that means they need to eat regularly please speak to the school office. This does not affect our wrap around care Smiles - children receive a cold meal in this provision around 4.30pm. Thank you for your support with this to help the children maximise their time in the club.

Parking

The parking enforcement officer has been on site this week and gave out 3 tickets to vehicles parked on the yellow zig zags.  They are being very strict - any part of your vehicle on a yellow zig zag will incur a ticket so please park correctly.  They also spoke to a few parents to remind them that even stopping for a few seconds to let someone in or out of the car (on the part of the road that is zig zagged) is not allowed and will incur a ticket if seen.  I understand the morning run and parking is a stressful time -  thank you for your support in keeping our children safe.

Lost property

We have lots of lost property - at the end of term this will be recycled or repurposed.  Please come and look if you think your child has lost anything.

Sticky Questions

Reception: Would it be more fun to live in a house or in the trunk of a tree?
Year 1: Would a giraffe make a good pirate?
Year 2: If Perfect Peter really was perfect, what would he be like?

and finally............
Our violinists wowed us yesterday with solo and group performances of a range of songs they have been learning all year.  If your child is interested in learning to play the violin, please read the information that has been sent to you via email.

Our wonderful PTA presented us with a cheque for £3,319.18 raised from your amazing sponsorship of our recent Bounce for Books event.  Thank you to everyone for this fantastic achievement - the money will go directly to providing more books for the library.
The junior school are selling ice creams after school today, so our PTA are postponing our Frozen Friday until next week.  Please pop along and support the Junior PTA if you can.

Have a lovely weekend.

Ms Roberts
