Head's message

This week we have welcomed the new reception children for their first taste of big school. Well done to all the parents and carers in saying goodbye on the first day without too many tears!  It really is a big milestone in a young child's life. We are very proud of the reception children and I am sure you are too.

Year 1 and 2 have also continued to settle into their new routines and I have seen lots of happy, smiling faces as I visit classrooms and help with lunches. Thank you for attending the year 1 and 2 welcome meetings it was lovely to see lots of parents. If you were not able to attend, you will find the powerpoints used on the year 1 and year 2 learning pages.

Home school agreement

Our home school agreement has been emailed to you.  This has also been provided as a paper copy for new reception parents. We value our strong partnership with parents and to help support this, we have 3 simple school rules that the children know and understand.  These link with our Behaviour Policy and Rules Matter.

Please take the time to read the Home School Agreement and share it with your child. Your child will already be familiar with our ‘ways to help me learn’ and will be able to tell you about them.  As a parent of a child at Telford Infant School we assume that you freely commit to this agreement. However, if you feel you cannot support it please email school to discuss your concerns.

Free school meals

Please read the letter sent to your email if you think your child may be eligible for free school meals, as the extra funding into school will provide your child with so much more!

Key dates

Monday 15th September 10am - Open morning for prospective parents for September 2026.  If you know anyone who is looking for a school place please signpost them to us!  They can book a place on our open days using this link.

Wednesday 17th September 6pm - Reception parents welcome evening. This is an opportunity to meet your child's new class teacher and hear about the topics and learning that will be covered this year.  It is an important meeting and I urge you to attend, even if you have an older child who has already gone through that year group. The sessions will be in your child's classroom, providing you with an opportunity to see their learning environment. Please note this is a parent only event.

Thursday 25th September 6pm - PTA Annual General Meeting - please see the letter sent via email which includes a form should you wish to nominate someone for a PTA position.  All are welcome at the meeting!

Sticky Questions

This year we are trying a new initiative to get our children talking!  Please read the letter sent in your email and look out for your child's first sticky question sticker.

Have a lovely weekend.
