This week I have had the pleasure, once again, in showing our amazing school to a large number of prospective new parents for September 2026. It was a delight to take them around school and see happy and focused children, engaged in their learning activities. Many children (including our new reception) were very keen to speak to our visitors and talk about their favourite things about school. These included learning new things, making new friends and lunchtime!
Online Safety
Technology is a huge part of our everyday lives, and for children it is a great way to find out about the world, practise learning, connect with others and have fun. However, as technology gets more and more advanced, we must ensure that our children understand how to use it safely, and as parents, we keep abreast of what children are using the internet for.
Many schools in the country are becoming involved in the Smart Phone Free Childhood campaign - we will be joining this campaign and offering in person information sessions to parents, which we are planning together with Telford Juniors and North Leamington School. If you would like to find out more about the Smart Phone Free Childhood campaign please click here.
In the meantime, Milverton Primary School (part of our cluster of schools) are offering any parent the opportunity to attend their information event virtually on the 13th October 7-8pm - please use this link to book a virtual ticket. Please note you cannot attend in person, as that is reserved for Milverton parents.
Warwickshire ICT Development Service have created an online safety hub for parents and carers which contains FAQs, reviews and parenting advice about everything tech. There is a very helpful section on parental controls including how to use the Qustodio parent app to manage and supervise your child's online activities. They are also hosting a free online parent workshop on 10th November 7pm - 8pm - information on how to access this event has been sent to all parents via email.
We have also emailed information to you about a series of books which have had their web link that is referenced in the back compromised - please check if you have any of these books at home.
Design and Technology day
The first day back after half term (3rd November) is going to be a special design and technology day for all children across school. We are looking for volunteers to help with a range of activities including cooking and sewing. If you are able to help please let your child's class teacher know. We also need lots of junk modelling including large boxes - please drop these with your child's class teacher over the next couple of weeks.
OPAL
Our outdoor play and learning approach to lunchtimes is developing well and as part of our journey towards accreditation we are inviting year 1 and 2 parents to an information and play event on 7th November at 2pm - please see the flyer sent in your email for further information. Reception parents will be invited to a similar event in the Spring/Summer term. This will be a bookable event and further details will be sent out nearer the time.
