LEAVE OF ABSENCE DURING TERM TIME  – INFORMATION FOR PARENTS


REQUESTING PLANNED ABSENCES

Any request for essential absence should be made to the school on a Leave of Absence form which can be obtained from the school office.  This must be completed BEFORE  the planned absence date.  There are 190 school days each year and 175 other days for shopping trips, birthday treats and holidays.  Such events during term time will not be authorised. Any absence that is 95% or under will be discussed with parents.  Absence under 90% will be discussed with parents and  the Warwickshire Attendance Service and families may be put on an attendance action plan to improve this. 

ATTENDING MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

We encourage routine medical appointments (such as the dentist etc) to be taken outside of school time, however, we appreciate that many medical appointments and assessments are out of your immediate control.  When notifying us of medical appointments, evidence of the appointment will be requested so the absence can be authorised.


REPORTING AN ABSENCE DUE TO ILLNESS

Parents must contact the school if their child is absent due to illness by phoning the school office – 01926 425544. If the school does not have prior notification of absence and a child does not attend school we contact parents or carers by phone to confirm the child’s whereabouts and safety.

Please note we can only administer and store prescribed medicine that needs to be taken more than 3 times a day when a consent form has been completed by the parent.  Medicine that is only required to be taken 3 times a day can be administered at home before and after school, and before bedtime.  However, if parents/carers wish to come into school to administer such medicine they are welcome to, bringing the medicine with them.


PUNCTUALITY
Arriving late at school can be upsetting for a child and it disrupts the normal morning routine for the whole class. Our school day starts promptly at 8.55am. Children arriving at school after 8.55am should be brought into school by the main school office entrance and signed using electronic sign in system by their parent or carer.
