Head's Message
This week has been the week of visitors to our school!
On Monday we welcomed the Mayor of Leamington, Councillor Sarah Boad (who is also one of our long standing Governors). She spoke to the children about her role and showed them what a Mayor wears to perform their special duties. The Year 2 children of our school have been chosen to create the official Mayor Christmas card for this year and class teachers will be helping the children create their entries in school. We will keep you posted about the winning entry.
On Monday we also welcomed prospective parents who are looking at schools for their reception children starting in September 2027. On Tuesday we welcomed a visitor from the Local Authority, as part of their annual school visits programme.
All our visitors were impressed how confident and happy our children are and what our amazing school has to offer.
Reception parents, thank you for attending the Reception Welcome evening, I hope you found it useful and informative. As you get to grips with the mountain of information that comes with a child starting school, don't forget we are always here to help you - please just ask your child's class teacher, catch a member of leadership team on the gate or pop into the office.
Thursday next week (6pm) our PTA are holding their annual AGM - please pop along if you can. All help is appreciated and it does not mean you will be asked to run an event! For other calendar events click here.
Parking
You will have seen the parking attendants patrolling Kelvin Road and Telford Avenue recently. This support from the council and your consideration of the highway code is really helping to keep the children safe, thank you. However, our neighbours are still experiencing inconsiderate parking along nearby roads such as Beaufort Avenue. I understand that finding a parking space in the morning can be a stressful experience when you are trying to ensure your child is at school on time, however, parking regulations must be followed. The playground is open from 8.30am where you are welcome to wait with your child until the first bell goes at 8.45am (when the classroom doors are opened). The second bell goes at 8.55am when the classroom doors are locked. We also have a great breakfast club which is open from 7.30am every day.
Dogs
If you walk your dog to school at drop off or pick up, please remember that they should not be left tied to the school gates. Although the gates are closed at this time, access to them is needed at all times in case of emergency. The junior school fence on the right hand side is a safer place, however, we prefer two adults to walk to school if you are bringing a dog, so that one can walk their child to the classroom and the other can stay with the dog away from the school site. Please remember dogs are NOT allowed on the school site (past the gate or fence) and cannot be carried by an adult onto the school site (no matter how little and cute it is).
After school clubs
Further to our communication to parents before the summer break, please do NOT send your child to their after school club with a snack. Most clubs finish by 4.30pm and you can always bring a snack with you if you feel your child will be hungry. If your child does bring a snack to their club they will not be allowed to eat it, which they may find upsetting. We appreciate you working with us on this so that the children get the maximum time out of their club activity. Children attending Smiles after school club are fed at 4.30pm.
