Head's Message

This week I have been able to spend time with our new reception children over lunchtime.  It has been a pleasure to see how confident they are and how well they are learning all the different rules of school.  They are very lucky to have lots of resources to play with on the front playground as part of our OPAL provision, including the new play village and it has been lovely to see their imaginations flourishing when playing together. 

100 book challenge

Those of you who are not new to school will already be aware of our 100 book challenge.  Lots of children managed to complete this last year, expanding their reading experiences and enjoying a great range of books.  If your child is in year 1 or 2 they already have their 100 book record to complete (however, if you have mislaid this please ask your child's class teacher for a new copy).  Reception children have been sent home with these today.  The book can be read by your child, or read to your child.  We also have 2 copies of all 100 books in our school library that your child can borrow.  When your child has completed all 100 books (we know this will take a long time) they can bring their 100 book record to school and receive a certificate and book mark. Martyn's Law

Under the requirements of Martyn's Law we have been requiring parents entering our site for events (when children are still on site), to book tickets via eschools.  The three events below all require this  - please check you have an eschools log in to enable you to do this.  When you attend the event, school staff will ask you to show your booking on your phone - a quick and easy way to do this, is to screen shot the booking and have it saved in your camera roll.  We will not be able to admit you without a booking.  All events are restricted to 2 people per child due to health and safety restrictions, unless otherwise stated.  Thank you working with us to keep our school site safe. 

OPAL event for year 1 parents

We are very proud to be an OPAL Gold school.  Last year we ran an OPAL play event for year 1 and year 2 parents, but unfortunately we were unable to run one for reception parents due to other school events.  As those reception parents from last year are now year 1 parents, we are inviting Year 1 parents only (new reception parents will have a session in the Spring term) to an OPAL stay and play event on Friday 9th October at 2.30pm.  You will need to book this via eschools and will not be admitted onto the school site without a ticket.  You may bring 2 adults per child.  This is a great opportunity share our OPAL facilities with your child and we hope to see you there. Booking opens for year 1 parents only on Monday 28th September. 

Learning reviews

Our learning reviews will take place on Tuesday 20th October and Thursday 22nd October. A letter about how to book your date and time slot via eschools will sent home next week, so please look out for this.   Please check that your eschools login works and contact the office if it doesn't or you do not know what it is. Booking opens on Monday 5th October 12 noon for all parents.  

Reception Harvest performances

Reception will be giving their annual Harvest performance on the following days;

Wednesday 14th October - 2.45pm - Magenta Class

Thursday 15th October - 2.45pm Cherry Class

Friday 16th October - 2.45pm Crimson Class

You will need to book this via eschools and will not be admitted onto the school site without a ticket.  You may bring 2 adults per child.  This is a relaxed event so you are able to bring younger children but they count as one of your allocated 2 spaces.  Booking opens for reception parents on Friday 2nd October.

Reception - Would you rather live in a giant shoe or a giant hat? 

Year 1 - Should grown ups be told to tidy their room?   (I look forward to hearing the discussion about this question!)

Year 2 - Drum on the table with your fingers. Did you make music?
