This week we have celebrated Harvest. Year 1 and 2 children visited St Mary Magdalene's Church where Year 2 read out poems and a story about harvest and year 1 helped to sing a range of harvest and Autumn songs. Reverend William showed us pictures of how the land around the church used to be farm land and told a story with a magic trick! This is always a nice opportunity to be out in our local community and be thankful for the food that we have. Thank you to the parents and carers who helped walk the children to and from the church, we cannot do these things without you and we hope you enjoyed the celebration too.
Reception have proudly and confidently performed harvest songs and poems to their grown ups in school, for the first time since starting school only 6 weeks ago. This is always a real treat to see how well the children have settled into school and how proud we are all of them. It is Crimson's turn this afternoon and I am sure they will enjoy it as much as Magenta and Cherry have.
Thank you for all the food donations for Harvest - these will be distributed to local food banks who are very grateful for the support.
Black History month
At school we aim to represent all cultures within our curriculum, the whole year round, but marking Black History month and making the children aware of this, is important. So far the children have had assemblies about Nelson Mandela, Ignatius Sancho and Alice Coachman. Next week they will have an assembly on Randolph Turpin.
Learning Reviews
Next week is the last week of this half term and learning reviews will be taking place. You must have a slot booked for this, and when you enter school via the main front door, you will be checked in by a member of staff before going to your child's classroom. If you have requested a teams meeting an invite will be sent to your child's teams calendar. Please contact the office if you do not have your child's team login and you are having teams learning review. The teaching staff try their best to stick to time, and we appreciate it if you arrive promptly for your time slot. Please remember not to bring your child with you (nor can they be on camera on teams).
Photographs
Please read the letter that has been sent in your email about the recent photographs that were taken in school.
