Head's message

What a busy and exciting second week at school!  Year 2 have started on their topic learning around a great story called 'The Day the Crayons Quit' and Year 1 are learning all about 'The Wonderful World of Julia Donaldson'.  Our new reception children started school and have busy learning lots of new routines including what happens at lunchtime.   The half term curriculum overviews have been posted on Tapestry for all year groups so please take a look at these.

Thank you to all the year 1 and 2 parents who came to the welcome evenings on Wednesday.  We hope you found these informative and a further chance to meet your child's class teacher.   Reception parents, it is your turn next week - Wednesday  16th September @ 6pm, we look forward to seeing you there (adults only please).

KS1 harvest celebration

This celebration is for the children only, but we do require a small number of parents/carers to help walk the children to and from church (and you get to stay and watch).  Please read the letter that has been sent to year 1 and 2 parents only, and let your child's class teacher know if you are able to help.  We are also requesting food donations for the local food bank  - please see the letter for more detail.

Telford Junior School

As some of you may know, Telford Junior School had an Ofsted inspection at the end of the summer term.  Their report can be read here and recognises that Telford Junior School meets the expected standard in all areas, with inclusion judged to be a strong standard and safeguarding confirmed as fully effective.   The school are holding an open afternoon on Thursday 15th October from 4pm -5pm to provide prospective parents the opportunity to meet the junior teachers, tour the school and find out more about junior provision.  No need to book, just turn up at the main entrance on Telford Avenue (please see the flyer that has been emailed to you).

Nut free school

This is a reminder that we are a NUT free school, due to a number of allergies across the school - both children and staff.  This means you CANNOT send in any products that contain nuts.  Please be particularly mindful of this if your child has a home made packed lunch.  We still have some nutella sandwiches coming into school - nutella contains nuts - please use a different sandwich filling or consider swapping to our delicious FREE school meals.  Thank you for helping us keep children with allergies safe in school.

Sticky questions

This week's sticky questions for year 1 and 2 are;

Year 1 - If a genie gave you one wish each, what would they be?

Year 2 - What are thoughts made of?

Please take the time to discuss your child's question with them to help develop deep thinking and confidence in speaking and sharing ideas.

Reception parents - you will find out about sticky questions at the welcome meeting next week.

Have a lovely weekend,
Ms Roberts
