Over the last few weeks in school the year 2 children have been busy learning lots of sewing techniques to make their own 'stitching book'. These skills are so important to learn and we are very grateful that so many parents and grandparents have come into school to support with these lessons.
Amber class are the first class who have worked with Mrs Wilson, who is our artist in residence this year. Together they have created a collage all about Julia Donaldson which will go on permanent display inside school. Throughout the year every class will get the opportunity to work with Mrs Wilson to create a large piece of artwork for permanent display. Turquoise class will be producing artwork on 20th November with the theme of the Victorians. This artist in residence project has been made possible by the PTA and your generous donations.
Reception have been learning all about pumpkins this week in their understanding of the world lessons. They have been predicting what might happen in their pumpkin volcano experiment and noticing what has changed and what has stayed the same. All the children really enjoy this experience and I am sure they will be excited to tell you all about it.
Learning Reviews
Thank you for attending the recent learning reviews, I hope you found these useful. The target sheets you have been given are intended to help you focus on key skills with your child at home- little and often is the best approach.
PTA events
Please note the PTA cake sale has been postponed from after school today until the first Friday back after half term.
Diary Dates
As we head into Autumn 2 after the break, there are lots of exciting things happening. Please look at the calendar and make a note of those important dates. Information on how to book tickets for the parent events will be sent out in plenty of time.
Poppy Appeal
After half term we will be selling poppies on behalf of the Royal Legion. Please send your child into school with a donation of your choice if you wish them to purchase a poppy.
Warwickshire SEND parent carer voice
Warwickshire Parent Carer Voice (WPCV) is inviting parents and carers to share their experiences of inclusion in mainstream schools across Warwickshire. Hearing directly from families will help to build a picture of current experiences and establish a baseline to support the SEND Reform Plan being delivered. The survey is taking place before Experts at Hand, a new approach designed to give mainstream schools and settings earlier access to specialist advice and support, is introduced in Warwickshire. It will be repeated in November 2027 to help understand how families’ experiences have changed over time.
The survey is open to all parents and carers of children attending mainstream schools in Warwickshire, and families can complete a separate response for each child. WPCV is also keen to hear from Warwickshire families whose children attend an independent school or a school outside Warwickshire. Click here to complete the survey.
Harvest thanks
All the food you generously gave as part of our Harvest celebrations was collected by the Warwick District Foodbank this week and they sent us a thank you certificate, which is shown below.
Sticky Questions
Reception - If your shadow could talk, what would it say?
Year 1 - What do you think is the best thing about being human?
Year 2 - If ten people are looking at a rainbow, how many rainbows are there?
Have a lovely half term with family and friends. School starts back on Monday 2nd November and we look forward to seeing you then.
