Welcome to the start of the Autumn term 2026! I hope everyone had a lovely summer break and enjoyed the glorious weather. We are delighted to welcome the year 1 and year 2 children back into school this week. They have all settled really well into their new year groups and classes and have been excited to tell me about their summer holiday adventures.
We have also met our new reception children, who have come into school with their grown ups to meet the class teachers and teaching assistants for one short session this week. We are looking forward to reception children starting half day attendance as of Monday for a few days and then full time from Thursday.
On your email you will have received a welcome letter from our Chair of Governors, please take the time to read this.
Key Dates
Please make sure you regularly check the school calendar for important events coming up. These have been populated onto the calendar for the school year (further dates will be added as the year progresses where needed). Next week is our Welcome Evening for year 1 and 2 parents on Wednesday 9th September at 6pm. This is an opportunity to meet your child's new class teacher and hear about the topics and learning that will be covered this year. It is an important meeting and I urge you to attend, even if you have an older child who has already gone through that year group. The sessions will be in your child's classroom, providing you with an opportunity to see their learning environment. Please note this is a parent only event.
Home School agreement
Our home school agreement has been emailed to you. This has also been provided as a paper copy for new reception parents. We value our strong partnership with parents and to help support this, we have 3 simple school rules that the children know and understand. These link with ourBehaviour Policy and Rules Matter.
Please take the time to read the Home School Agreement and share it with your child. Your child will already be familiar with our ‘ways to help me learn’ and will be able to tell you about them. As a parent of a child at Telford Infant School we assume that you freely commit to this agreement. However, if you feel you cannot support this, please email school to discuss your concerns.
Uniform
We encourage the children to be proud of the uniform they wear. We now sell uniform through three different channels;
1) preloved directly in school - kept in the main school entrance - pop in at any time
3) Via Clive Mark which is a physical shop in Warwick town centre and online ordering service
Parking reminder
The majority of drivers are being very respectful of the parking and stopping restrictions we have around school. However, this week there has been some stopping on the zig zags to jump in or out of cars and someone turning round in the school driveway on the no turning sign. We are still being monitored by the traffic wardens who will issue on the spot fines if they see this behaviour. You can also report any concerns using this link. This helps us to keep reinforcing the importance of traffic safety around school for your children. Next week when the reception children start the roads will be busier, so I urge you to set off in plenty of time to park and walk.
Have a lovely weekend, it is forecast to be warm and sunny again! However, you might also want to take advantage of National Cinema Weekend, - cinema tickets for any film, in any format are only £4 each. Lots of local cinemas are participating in this event.
