Head's Message

We have been blessed with the weather this week and the children have been able to get outside for their learning. Yesterday year 1 had the opportunity to take part in fencing lessons.  They really enjoyed this opportunity and we are aiming to use some of our PE funding to buy fencing equipment (don't worry they are made out of foam!) to continue this into weekly PE lessons.

Today the year 1 children are at Mary Arden's Farm  - thank you to everyone who has volunteered to support on the trip, they could not run without you.  I am sure the children are having a fantastic time; class teachers will post photos from the trip on tapestry next week.

Support for a pedestrian crossing on Windmill Hill

Currently, there is not a safe crossing point on Windmill Hill and several near miss incidents have been reported to the police.  The local community is pulling together to petition Cubbington Parish Council to install a crossing.  A copy of the petition is available in the school office if you would like to sign it.

Swift Kitchen

If you know you child is going to be absent from school, it would really help the office if you can cancel your child's lunch order for that day via the Swift Kitchen app, otherwise we still get charged for it.  If you are unable to do this, please let the office know when you call to report the absence. Thank you.

Upcoming events

Monday 27th April - Reception vision screening - please see the letter that was sent yesterday if you wish to opt out of this.

Wednesday 29th April - Reception archery - please make sure your child has a long sleeved top in their PE kit.

Friday 1st May - PTA Bounce for Books - You can keep getting those sponsorships in until after the event, you child will come home on the 1st May with the number of bounces they have managed to do. Thank you in anticipation for all the money raised which directly benefits the children.

Tuesday 5th May to Wednesday 7th May - MAD (Music and Dance) festival in school

Wednesday 7th May - Celebration of learning - starts at 3pm - the children will be singing a song at 3pm from the Magic Flute opera (part of their MAD festival learning)  - if you want to experience this, please arrive promptly at 3pm to your child's classroom door.  No need for tickets, the class teacher will sign you in.

Other key dates are on our calendar.

Sticky Questions

Reception: What would be the best thing about being a giant? And what would be the worst?
Year 1: If animals had a city of their own, who would do what?
Year 2: What is the most extraordinarily beautiful ordinary thing?

Thank you for everyone who has signed up to help at our Community Day tomorrow - it is not too late to let us know you are coming or if you are undecided, please just turn up on the day anytime between 9am and 2pm and stay as long as you can. Refreshments will be available, some which are courtesy of Tesco which is amazing - thank you Tesco!

Have a good weekend.
