Head's Message

This week all our children moved up to their new year group for the day on Wednesday.  Our current year 2 children represented the school well as they joined Telford Juniors in their new year 3 classes and were full of information about the new routines they have started to experience.   Current year 1 had an enjoyable day in their new year 2 classes participating in games and activities that focused on the adults and children getting to know each other, as well as completing some artwork based on the story 'The Day the Crayons Quit.'.   The reception children bravely went up to Year 1 and did a number of different activities base around the book 'Giraffes can't dance.'    We warmly welcomed our new reception children to shorter play sessions without their grown ups which was a lovely chance to meet them again before the summer break.

Consultation

Thank you for your responses to our consultation on academisation and joining Elm Tree MAT.  Governors met on Wednesday evening to look at the responses and discuss next steps.  I am pleased to announce that stakeholders are overwhelmingly in support of the changes, and therefore, we will be moving onto the due diligence part of the process.

Reports

Please remember to look at your child's report which is available via tapestry from 4pm today.  Please read the report letter that has been emailed to you about how to request a phone call about your child's report and how to provide feedback to the school.

PTA

The PTA will be having a Frozen Friday ice cream sale tonight on the front playground.  Lost property will also be out for parents to look through.  Flyers for all the PTA events happening next week have been sent in your email.  The PTA have also been successful in getting our school selected for the Tesco Fruit and Veg Grant programme - so if you shop in Tesco please pop your blue coins in our voting box!  PTA you are amazing!

Current reception and Year 1 children summer home learning

Look out for the tapestry post on 15th July inviting your child to take part in summer home learning to create a poster about themselves ready for starting their new class in September.  The year one and year two class teachers will be creating a poster about themselves too, which will be posted on tapestry. These will help your child to get to know their new teacher a bit more before September.

Last week of term fun

I cannot believe next week is the last week of term!   Please remember to return all reading books and send a reusable bag for your child to bring their exercise books home in.

Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday are the year 2 leavers assemblies - please remember to book your ticket and have this ready to show on your phone as you enter school. This is an essential requirement of Martyn's Law which is now statutory,

Throughout the week all children will be working on our giant willow badger sculpture which you will be able to see take shape in the quiet area on the back playground.

Thursday is the year 2 leavers party and Friday is break the rules day when children can wear a hat, nail polish, have crazy hair, face paint or a temporary tattoo.  50p per rule broken.  The children absolutely LOVED doing this. last year.  Thank you for your support.

100 Book challenge

We have had a flurry of children completing the 100 book challenge - there is still time before the end of next week to do this if you are in year 2!

Have a lovely weekend.
