Head's message
I want to thank you all for being so responsive to the Learning Review letter and getting your learning reviews booked so quickly.   This year was a record, with over a third of parents booked on the same day the letter went out!   Of course when great things happen, technology can often fail us.............I am very sorry, that some of you experienced technical errors, our amazing office team, worked really hard to get these fixed asap.  If you are one of the few parents who have not yet booked please call the office or speak to your child's class teacher so we can get this organised for you.

Harvest Festival
Hot off the press, the year 1 and 2 children went to St Mary Magdalene's Church today to give thanks for all we have and presented the food and toiletries you so generously donated (thank you!)  to the Trussell Trust food bank.  Please see our Loving Learning pages for photos of this special morning.

Reception parents, we are looking forward to welcoming you into school later this afternoon for Harvest celebrations.

Black History month
At school we aim to represent all cultures within our curriculum, the whole year round, but marking Black History month and making the children aware of this, is important. So far the children have had assemblies about Rosa Parks, Baroness Floella Benjamin, and Chevalier de Saint-Georges.

Volunteers
Have you a spare few hours a week?  Would you like to volunteer in school?  This is a great way to get to know what happens in school and working with young children is very interesting (!) and rewarding.  We welcome all skills and abilities and are happy to use your strengths and interests whether that be reading with children, admin work such as laminating, filing, cutting and sticking, helping children in the classroom with their learning, running a club at lunchtime, gardening etc.  The only rule we have is that you cannot be in your child/grandchild's class as we have found in the past this is not beneficial for them.   You will need a DBS check which school pay for and is a quick and simple process. If you are interested please pop into the office or email us on admin2326@welearn365.com

Marvelous midday supervisors
Today we celebrated our marvelous midday supervisors who work really hard, in all weather conditions, to ensure that the children are entertained, fed and well cared for at lunchtimes.
Each class made them a card and they had some special treats after lunch.
If you are interested in becoming a midday supervisor please see our vacancies page for more details.

Parking, pavements and poo
Thank you for not parking or stopping on the yellow zig zags outside school, we are seeing a marked difference this week which makes the immediate space outside school much safer for everyone.  However, a number of parents have reported that cars are being parked half on the pavement and half on the road on surrounding streets, making it impossible to walk on the pavements (and in the highway code this is also illegal). Where possible please try to park on the road and not the pavement, quite a few surrounding streets are wide enough to do this safely.
Children are also stepping in dog mess on the way to or from school which is a horrible experience for everyone.  Please ensure you are cleaning up after your dog and helping with this. It is particularly bad down the alley way between Telford Avenue and Kelvin Road. I fully appreciate that non school members of the public will also be causing parking issues and not cleaning up after their dogs, but alas my high vis jacket does not give me the power to reach them on my own.............but we are in communication with our local PCO and the dog warden on these matters.

Have a fantastic weekend,
Ms Roberts
