It was wonderful to meet our new reception children and their families this week as they came for their first taste of 'big school'. We have welcomed back many families that we already know and new ones too. Thank you for choosing Telford Infants! Current reception children enjoyed joining year 1 for the morning on Tuesday and experiencing their new classrooms ahead of transition day. Our transition arrangements continue next week with transition day on Wednesday 2nd July. On this day please remember you can meet your child's new class teacher following the normal 3.20pm collection time, by visiting your child's new classroom. TIS staff will be on hand to direct you if you are not sure where to go.
What an amazing turn out we had to our Celebration of Learning event this week. I hope you enjoyed sharing your child's learning with them and choosing a special piece that you were both extra proud of.
Volunteers
We are so lucky at our school to have lots of parents, grandparents and others willing to give some of their time to help the school as a volunteer. Sadly, some of our volunteers are leaving us at the end of this academic year as their children and/or grandchildren in year 2 leave us. Therefore, we are looking for new volunteers to carry on the fantastic work they have done. Our volunteers do many different things including direct work with children in class, one to one reading, admin work for class teachers, maintaining the library books, gardening etc. We are always happy to accommodate you and what you feel your strengths and interests are. Volunteering can be on a weekly or ad hoc basis and for as little of long as you wish. If you are interested in volunteering please pop into the office and have a conversation with us. You will be asked to provide us with some details and apply for a DBS check (which school pays for) to check you are suitable to work with children. Once your DBS check comes through you will be invited to a brief safeguarding and health and safety induction with myself before you can start. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, be around young people who will make you smile and laugh and see what life in school is really like! We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
