Welcome back to the summer term. I hope you all had a restful Easter break and are enjoying the amazing weather we have had this week. The children have settled back into their school routines well and are enjoying their new topics. Well done to the huge amount of children who completed the reading challenge over the holidays, please celebrate their reading certificates with them when they bring them home.
Please remember to look on tapestry to find the detail of what your child is learning this half term. Our Loving Learning pages also promote what is happening in school each week.
Calendar dates
Please check the calendar for upcoming events. Next week year 1 visit Mary Arden's Farm on Friday (9th) please remember to submit your payment, which is also your permission, asap.
Warmer weather
In this lovely weather we are having, please send your child to school with a sun hat or cap (named) as the playgrounds do not have much shade. All children should have a water bottle in school so they can stay hydrated. If you wish to apply suncream to your child, please use the 8 hour cream and apply before coming to school. We cannot apply suncream to children, and it's better if they do not bring it in and apply it themselves, as it always results in quite a mess! Due to allergies suncream cannot be shared between children. All year groups are now mixing in the back playground at lunchtime, as this provides field access for everyone and gets reception used to this space ready for September.
Online safety when using Roblox
Roblox has hit the media again this week with a reminder to all parents that your children can access inappropriate content and talk to adults as part of this game, Please read the full article here. We know that a lot of our children do play this game, our advice is to check all parental controls are set and that you are always in the same room as your child when they are playing so you can see and hear what they are doing. Do not let them use headphones whilst playing as this prevents you from hearing what is happening.
Nut free school
An important reminder that we are a nut free school as we have a number of children who have severe nut allergies. This includes Nutella chocolate spread which has appeared in some packed lunches recently. This also includes snacks that are sent into school for after school clubs.
Bounce for books
It is not long until the eagerly awaited Bounce for Books on 16th May - please keep collecting those sponsorships so we can buy as many new books as possible for the library. Thank you!
Enjoy the long weekend, and we will see you back in school on Tuesday 6th May. Ms Roberts
