Welcome back to the second half of the summer term! I hope you had a restful break and time to recharge before the final 7 weeks of this academic year. The children have settled back into their routines well and have lots of lovely learning to look forward to. Please ensure you read the curriculum overviews which are loaded onto tapestry for more information.
Facebook
Please take a look at our Facebook page and make a friend request if you wish to follow us. We will only post information on facebook and not any school photographs or sensitive information. Having a facebook page is a good way for new parents to find us so please share with your friend and colleagues who may not have considered us as a school.
Phonics Screening check
Next week is an important week for our year 1 children as they take their Phonics Screening Check (PSC). The children have been practising these checks all year and the format is very familiar to them. You will receive the results of the check in your child's end of year report via tapestry on 11th July. Good luck year 1!
PTA update
Lots of work has been going on behind the scenes compiling the eagerly anticipated Telford Infant School Cookbook. You will be able to order this soon and further details on how to do this will be sent out.
Superman present room is all organised and ready - please read the letter you have received in book bags on how to order your gift.
Parking
You will not have failed to spot our new very bright yellow zig zags that have been repainted to ensure these are clear for everyone. Please respect the law that this area must not be parked on (even for a quick 'I'm sorry I won't be long' 30 seconds) at any time between 8am and 5pm.
2025-2026 academic year
Whilst we are firmly focused on the current summer term and all the lovely learning that will take place, we are also planning transition experiences for the children in readiness for their new year groups or school. Attached to your email you will find an important letter providing you with information on staffing and classes for next year. If you have any concerns about transition please speak to your child's class teacher.
I would also like to inform you of our term dates and INSET (teacher training) days for 2025/26 so that any holiday and child care plans can be arranged in advance. These dates have been discussed with the Junior School and where possible we have chosen the same INSET dates. However, INSET days must be linked to the training needs of the school and therefore, cannot always be the same. We appreciate this is not ideal for all families which is why I am sharing the dates well in advance.
Reception places for September 2025
Due to another very low birth year we do have places remaining for children starting school in reception this September. Please let anyone know who has not secured a school place and we will be happy to support their application.
Open days for reception places and Junior school places in year 3 for September 2026
We have published our open day dates for prospective parents to look round our school in readiness for applying for a reception place for September 2026. Please share this information with anyone you know who has a child due to start school at that time. The 'joining our school' information page also includes open events for any parents to visit the Junior school which you may want to consider if your child is currently in reception or year 1.
Please keep checking the school calendar for important dates for the rest of this term as there are lots of exciting things happening.
